Our 5th Annual Women’s Leadership Symposium 2020 will address diversity and generational differences, relationship building, and accountability for business women of all positions and industries. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with our speakers, as well as network with and meet other like-minded businesswomen.

Katie McNichol, MS, LMHC

Katie McNichol M.S.; LMHC has a passion for helping teen girls and young women develop a life worth living. As a professional counselor, she inspires, educates and helps them grow into adulthood with confidence in who they want to be. Using a holistic approach to mental health and wellness Katie assesses and advises girls through the emotional ups and downs of the teen years and beyond college.

After receiving her B.S. in Human Development from Penn State University, Katie worked in the corporate realm in both sales and marketing roles, developing a love for business. With a natural desire to want to see people grow and develop, she went to graduate school as an adult receiving her M.S. in Professional Counseling from Southeastern University. She chose to specialize in teen girls and young women, building a successful private practice with a network of affiliate counselors. Raising Teen Girls is a resource for families about mental health and wellness during the teen years. Katie also works with young women transitioning from college to the workplace. She has a sub-specialty in Eating Disorders and works with women of all ages in this area.

Katie is currently working on her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and intends to help all women improve their mental health through the use of Lifestyle Medicine.

Katie was mostly raised in the Lakeland area, graduating from Lakeland Christian but has lived in Pennsylvania and other parts of Florida. She enjoys traveling, food, cooking, fitness, the beach and Disney.

Dr. Melissa Furman, MS, DBA

Dr. Melissa Furman is the founder of Career Potential, LLC and has a passion for helping individuals with career, professional, and leadership development. Her research and training expertise include generational diversity, career development, women’s leadership, unconscious bias, and assisting technical professionals transition into management roles. She has provided individual coaching and organizational consulting services to corporate, non-profit, and government organizations throughout the region and state.

Dr. Furman currently serves as a faculty member and former Assistant Dean at the James M. Hull College of Business at Augusta University in Augusta, GA. Prior to becoming an Assistant Dean, Dr. Furman served in multiple roles within university career centers at Augusta University, Johns Hopkins University, The University of Georgia, and Emory University.

Dr. Furman obtained her Doctorate of Business degree and Masters of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Susquehanna University. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and has obtained certifications in DISC, Motivators, EQi (Emotional Intelligence), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and CareerLeader assessments.
